Have a dream or a goal in mind? Get started! The garden has grown so much in four seasons. The first year, my sister and I split a 50’ by 50’ plot. Now she has her own farm, and I’m growing in that original garden, but we’ve added the high tunnel, hundreds of peonies, and another garden for dahlias. This year, we try again with a pumpkin patch and try to find room for more peonies! 🌸

Why buy our locally grown flowers instead of picking up a bouquet at the grocery store? 🌸 they won’t bring chemicals into your home-we grow without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides 🌸 we give back to our soil with composted 🐴 💩 🌸they are seasonal- we choose varieties you won’t find anywhere but locally grown for our unique climate and conditions.

The thing I’m most excited to grow this year? PUMPKINS! 🎃 Do they make any money? NO. Are they a ton of labor? YES. But they make me so happy. These are some pumpkin harvests from 2017-2022. We lost them to flooding in 2023, and never got around to plant them last year. What are you most excited to grow?

It’s been a while since I’ve introduced us! We are Sam and Billy, the growers behind Glad Farm. In 2021, we bought a corner of my family’s dairy farm, and grew the flowers for our wedding celebration that summer. Ever since, we’ve been expanding the specialty cut flowers that we grow for our community, and your special celebrations 💗 Thanks for following along as we enter season FIVE!

2024- a season of incredible growth. This season was our most challenging and rewarding yet. 💐our garden doubled again. We successfully overwintered feverfew, snapdragons, delphinium, rudbeckia, calendula, and ranunculus to have early spring flowers in the high tunnel. 💐Pregnancy really forced me to slow down and let go of the need for perfection. Seeds didn’t get started, I neglected and killed many of the seeds I did start, and I did next to no weeding. My husband really stepped up and made things happen, and we still grew beautiful flowers, including 400+ dahlias. 💐We provided the flowers for twelve weddings 🥂 💐We added another 115 peony bushes and so many perennials to give us flowers year after year. 💐Most importantly I grew our little girl, and I can’t wait to be farming for her 🌸 Thank you to @windlace_photography for capturing the beauty of this season.

In my experience, ranunculus are pretty tricky to grow as a home gardener. They benefit from being started in January/February in a high tunnel. They fizzle out quickly in the heat, and without that slow, cool start, they don’t bloom. If you love them, I bought 900 corms to grow for our spring flower fans!
